Body scrub is one of those beauty products that doesn't need to have 87 ingredients to do its thing. In fact, to hear Sarah Buscho—co-founder of plant-based skin care line Earth Tu Face—tell it, all you need for a good skin-sloughing is a moisturizing base and an exfoliating agent. Here, she shares three DIY recipes for the days you feel like playing chemist.

Get Glowing Scrub

“Rosemary oil in particular increases circulation, leaving skin with a vibrant and vital—almost glowy—look," says Buscho.

Ingredients:
1 cup fine sea salt
1/2 cup organic olive oil
8 drops organic lemongrass essential oil
7 drops organic rosemary essential oil

Mix salt and olive oil in a bowl before adding lemongrass and rosemary essential oils. Massage into clean, slightly damp skin, applying more pressure for extra exfoliation. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Blemish-Fighting Scrub

“Lavender oil is antibacterial, and helps soothe blemishes and heal scars," Bushco says of this scrub's key components. "The oats provide gentle exfoliation."

Ingredients:
1/2 cup ground organic almonds
1/2 cup of ground gluten free oat flakes (lightly ground by pulsing in a blender)
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
15 drops organic lavender essential oil

Mix ingredients together in a bowl and apply on clean skin in a circular motion. Leave on skin for up to forty-five seconds before rinsing with warm water.

Hydrating Scrub

“Blue chamomile helps restore dry skin, leaving it more moisturized and visibly plump,” the pro explains.

Ingredients:
1 cup fine sea salt or organic sugar
1/4 cup of organic sesame oil
1/4 cup of organic virgin coconut oil (melted)
12 drops organic blue chamomile essential oil

Mix together the salt, sesame, and coconut oils in a bowl. Then, stir in blue chamomile essential oil and mix well. Using circular motions, gently massage into clean, damp skin. Rinse with warm water and pat dry, allowing the rich oil residue to soak into dry skin.
