In the week since Celine Dion's husband Réne Angélil lost his battle with cancer, the singer has received an overwhelming outpouring of public sympathy. On Thursday, Dion's longtime friend and fellow diva Barbra Streisand joined in: The singer turned to Instagram to share a touching message with the grieving widow.
"Dear @CelineDion – Every time you look at your children's faces, you will see René. With love and strength —B" Streisand captioned an old photo (below) of the two of them sharing a warm embrace on a flight of stairs. The iconic songstresses have been friends with since 1997, when they recorded the duet "Tell Him."
Angélil died at the age of 73 after battling three bouts of cancer and the couple had marked their 21st wedding anniversary in December. He is survived by his and Dion's three children, 14-year-old René-Charles and 5-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy, as well as three children from a previous marriage.
