Congratulations are in order for Audra McDonald: The former Private Practice star and six-time Tony winner is pregnant! McDonald, 45, broke the happy news that she's expecting her first child with husband Will Swenson via Twitter.
Referring to her current role in Broadway's Shuffle Along, she wrote: "Who knew that tap dancing during perimenopause could lead to pregnancy? Will and I are completely surprised—and elated—to be expecting a new addition to our family."

She also revealed in a statement that due to the pregnancy she will take maternity leave from her current role at the end of July and will also postpone her West End debut in the London production of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, which had been set for in the summer. "I am so very grateful to everyone in New York and London for allowing me to rearrange my schedule to accommodate this little miracle," McDonald said.
"While I'm disappointed I have to postpone my West End debut in Lady Day, I'm glad I'll be able to spend a little more time in Shuffle Along this summer and will look forward to setting up a 1920s-themed nursery in my dressing room when I return to the show."
McDonald and Swenson, a fellow theater veteran, married in 2012 at their home in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. They already have three children between them from previous marriages. McDonald is mom to Zoe Madeline, 15, while Swenson has two sons, Bridger, 13, and Sawyer, 10.
