Anna Kendrick and James Corden made sweet music together on The Late Late Show on Tuesday night. The musical duo joined forces to tell a love story through popular songs—from the first date through a breakup to an eventual reunion.
The act begins with an aching performance of Dionne Warwick's "I Say a Little Prayer" before she meets Corden in a bar and he seduces her with a rendition of Chris de Burgh's "The Lady in Red." Naturally. Enamored, they make their way to a club where they break into a performance of "Can't Feel My Face" by The Weeknd, complete with hilarious dance moves. One thing leads to another and they find themselves on a bed, stripping off their clothes and singing "I'll Make Love to You" by Boyz II Men.
Their romance continues, moving from "I Think I Love You" by The Partridge Family to "Marry You" by Bruno Mars. After Kendrick delivers a warning to Corden about staying true to her in the form of "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Elton John & Kiki Dee, she finds a stranger's bra and their marriage quickly dissolves with a dead-on performance of Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me."
Kendrick consoles herself through the breakup with Adele's "Someone Like You" (and a carton of ice cream) while Corden joins in from outside the living room window.
Fast forward a bit and they run into each other on the street which launches them into "Believe" by Cher. Realizing that they do, in fact, still love each other, they finish their tumultuous journey with a dramatic performance of "I Will Always Love You" by the one and only Whitney Houston.
