Amanda Seyfried is InStyle’s January cover girl! The actress, who just celebrated her 27th birthday, doesn’t hold back in our interview, doling out her uncensored thoughts on everything from singing and stripping onscreen to the upside of having OCD and dating actors. “I’m just more attracted to actors," she reveals. "I like their choice to be artists—that’s ballsy. And a guy who has such access to his emotional life is sexy… Maybe I’m so attracted to actors because I’m not ready for the “settled down” thing yet.” In fact, she doesn’t like to settle at all—this is one woman who needs to keep moving. “I have to do lots of things at the same time. It’s an obsessive-compulsive thing,” says Seyfried, who takes Lexapro to control her OCD. (Example: When she’s on the elliptical machine at the gym, she’s also knitting, playing Soduku, and listening to music. “I think OCD is a part of me that protects me. It’s also the part of me that I use in my job, in a positive way.” And her jobs are what most important to her now. With Les Miserables, out Christmas Day, she’ll have live singing scenes (she says director Tom Hooper picked her because she can “be grounded enough to make it believable when she bursts into song”) and with Lovelace, out 2013, she’ll have nude scenes. “It’s not about my body,” she says. “It’s not about me. You’re playing somebody else. You’re not going to believe a love scene if the people are dressed. You’re not going to believe a stripper who has on a bra and underwear the whole time.” For more of our uncensored exclusive interview, flip to page 118 of the January issue—or download it on your iPad, Nook, or Droid tablet—on newsstands Friday, December 14th.
