We've been waiting to get our hands on Adam Lippes' collection for Target ever since it was first announced back in June. And today, the designer's capsule is finally here. Available in stores and at target.com, Lippes' collection of more than 50 pieces for men and women includes bags, tops, shoes, and blankets that feature traditional buffalo plaid prints—and everything retails for under $130. We caught up with the designer for our October issue, now on newsstands and available for digital download, and he gave us a sneak-peek at the looks that are sure to fly off the shelves within minutes.

The cozy yet stylish fall collection reflects the vibe of one of Lippes' favorite spots in Massachusetts."I was inspired greatly by the quintessential American spirit of the Berkshires," Lippes told InStyle. "I have a home there, and that's where I do a lot of my designing." And that's exactly where Lippes headed. It was there that "the collections for men, women, and home came together with a new take on classic American sportswear pieces," he said.

But the collaboration was a match made in tartan-print heaven before he even began designing the looks. "Target approached me to create a collection based on buffalo plaid for fall," said Lippes. "I love working with plaid, so the idea felt very right for me." His favorite thing about the popular print? "It's been a defining element of style for generations," said Lippes. "Plaid really crosses fashion boundaries. I love that it can be interpreted in so many different ways, from the dressed-up plaid seen on fashion gowns at red carpet events to the laid-back plaid that men wear to work."

Of course, Lippes added his own twist to the classic design. "We think of this pattern as red and black, but beige makes it quieter and refined," he said, adding that "it feels fresh and different." And according to Lippes, the print is "absolutely" flattering across the board—so you'll look and feel good when wearing his designs for Target. "What makes a particular garment flattering is the fabric, cut, and style," said Lippes. "We focused on those elements to create a variety of unique pieces, so there's definitely something for everyone."

Ultimately, Lippes wanted to create a line that lets you just kick back and relax. "I hope that women have fun mixing and matching these pieces," he said. "They can be dressed up for a night out in the city, or dressed down with jeans to run around during the day." Lippes just wants you to remember one thing: "These are pieces to be lived in."
