Calling all caffeine addicts ... or anyone who has ever experienced the dreaded 3 p.m. slump! Toss away your energy drinks and back away from the coffee counter. The cure for your heavy lids is here and it combines two things we love to indulge in everyday: caffeine and chocolate.

Awake, a Canadian company started by three best friends, aims to "fight tired with delicious" by packing caffeine into delicious rich chocolate to give you the kick in the pants you need and the sweet treat you want. The chocolate comes in two variations: bars and bites. Each bar, available in milk, dark, or caramel-filled ($20 for 12; awakechocolate.com), contains as much caffeine as a cup of coffee and each bite ($30 for 50; awakechocolate.com) equals a half cup, so you can tailor your caffeine consumption to your daily tasks.

Have some casual paperwork to get through? Two pieces should do the trick. Giving a full presentation to your boss after a red-eye? A full bar will get you up to speed. Just starting to feel that afternoon brain fog rolling in? One piece doubles as a wake-up call and a perfect mini dessert after lunch. And, if the idea of indulging in chocolate first thing in the morning isn't really your cup of caffeinated tea, Awake also offers granola bars ($25 for 16; awakechocolate.com) with 100 mg of caffeine in flavors like cinnamon bun and dark chocolate peanut butter to satisfy your morning fix and cover breakfast.

The triumph of Awake is the taste, though. We can admit that we were skeptical at first that it might have a hint of java or a general low-quality flavor. But the chocolate is pure melt-in-your-mouth goodness that's arguably more addicting than the caffeine inside it. Good thing the packaging comes with clear consumption guidelines (for example, no more than two granola bars per day). And with how well Awake works, we don't see any reason to go overboard.
