With the life aquatic as their muse, sisters Brenda and Mary Maher, of the
Chicago bakery Cakegirls, dream up five stunners sure to make a splash.
Ocean Waves
Working in a palette of seawater blues, the Mahers envisioned this round, three-tier delightwith its obvious nod to fashion icon Emilio Puccias a funky swirling surf. The pair crafted the thick rolling waves from fondant, accenting each with iridescent sheen, and piped the delicate bubbles in royal icing.
