Anatomy of a Wedding Invitation
Traditionally, the bride’s parents host the wedding and are therefore the ones doing the inviting. However, today, as customs and relationships have modernized, numerous variations exist. The following examples show how the wording of the invitation changes, depending on who is hosting the wedding. from Fall 2006
When the bride and groom send out the invitations themselves—which is often the case in second marriages—the invitations may resemble this example. In addition, this invitation refers to "the joining of their families," which suggests that the bride and groom both have children from their previous relationships.
