Asscher
The Asscher is a striking and dramatic square shape. It has a thick, almost chunky profile, cropped corners and stepped sides (features that distinguish it from the other square cut, the princess, which has a broader surface and sharp, angular corners). Created in about 1900 by Abraham Asscher, this shape was popular through the 1930s. It has come back into vogue with fashion's renewed interest in vintage styles.
