Once upon a time, in a land called L.A., all the fashionistas donned fanciful gems fit for a fairy-tale. Chloe Sevigny wore a colorful 1960's Bulgari snake watch for a trip down the red carpet. "The serpent is a symbol of wisdom, life and eternity," says Nicola Bulgari, vice chair of the design company. "We have been using the snake in Bulgari designs since the 1940's, sometimes adding bold colors to make them more fanciful." And Chloe is in good company. "In the 1960's, our snake bracelet-watches were extremely popular in Hollywood, with celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor," says Bulgari. Although gem-bedecked pieces like Sevigny's watch are priced for, well, Hollywood royalty, enamel jewelry like Mary-Kate Olsen's frog bracelet are a more affordable option. And they all lived happily ever after.
