Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore knows a thing or two about change. The former military brat moved 23 times during her childhood days, and as an adult she has played everything from a porn star (Boogie Nights) to an FBI agent (Hannibal). The Blindness lead so easily morphs into different roles, she's been honored with four Oscar nominations. No wonder going from a blunt bob to messy curls to long and sleek is no big deal. What passes her tress test? "No matter which role she's playing, her look is always very graceful and timeless," explains hairstylist John Sahag. "She is more about being genuine than being trendy." Makeup artist Scott Barnes agrees. "She stays true to herself while keeping her look very modern. Whatever you do with her, whether the look is girl next door or total vamp, it works. She is a great chameleon."

1979: When the high-school student got contact lenses, she became the class heartbreaker. "I learned at a young age that physicality isn't important—it can be manipulated," she has told In Style.
