Anna Paquin

She may have an Oscar and a 15-year film career, but it was a makeover that landed True Blood's Anna Paquin the role of Southern belle Sookie Stackhouse. “I was the only brunette in the waiting room,” she told the New York Times. “But it turns out that a little spray tan and a little peroxide goes a long way.” It's not the first time the Canadian-born, New Zealand-raised actress has altered her looks for a part—she sported skunk-striped locks to play Rogue in the X-Men trilogy. But total transformation wasn't always in the cards: "It's not worth it, changing your entire physical appearance," a13-year-old Paquin told People when asked if she would crop her long mane for a role. "I'm just a kid."

1994: The 11-year-old wore a plush beret to pick up her Academy Award for The Piano.
