Updos With Headbands

Drew Barrymore

The Hollywood Hills are getting a taste of Mount Olympus as mortal beauties go Greek goddess with banded updos. “It’s all about a finished style,” says hairstylist Jamal Hamadi. “I like the versatility and freshness [the bands] add to the look.” Hamadi, who works with Drew Barrymore, recommends using his Hamadi Shea Hair Cream or Shea Leave-In Cream to style hair back into a simple 'do. “If the hair is too short to pull back,” he says, “you can cover the shorter pieces with the band and create the illusion of longer hair without the bun or pony.” The banded effect can be created with elastic headbands or a length of ribbon held in place with bobby pins. As Hamadi says, “[It’s] a classic 'do, without the fuss.”
