All materials should be at our office no later than the closing dates unless you have been given an extension by Ad Traffic. Extensions are given for individual advertisers on a per issue basis. All extensions must be confirmed in writing. If you are in doubt about an extension, please call us ASAP.

File Delivery

All files must be submitted via the Time Inc. Ad Portal. Information and instructions are available at http://direct2time.timeinc.com.

InStyle is using Virtual Proofing technology at the printing plant. Color guidance proofs are no longer required. If you opt to use a hard proof for internal color approvals, please calibrate your proofing device to SWOP TR005.

Safety Margins
For bleed pages and spreads, keep essential matter .375" from bottom and sides of bleed edges (.25" from trim.) Essential matter on facing pages should not be closer than .25" to center fold either side of gutter - a total of .5" safety for gutter.

Minimum Type Size Requirements
For black text on a light background, our minimum requirement is 6-point type and for reversed or knockout type with trapping, our minimum requirement is 8-point type.

Copy Split Material Requirements
We require full 4-color files for each split.

Production Specifications
All ads are to be submitted as DIGITAL materials. InStyle follows Time Inc. digital specs. Time Inc. is only accepting advertising in PDF/X1a format prepared with our printer description file and guidelines. No application files such as QuarkXpress or Illustrator documents will be accepted. Our digital website is: http://direct2time.timeinc.com. All necessary information can be found there.

InStyle subscribes to the SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) standards. Time Inc. Ad Portal is preferred method of receiving ad materials. Virtual proof technology used - no color color guidance proofs required.

Maximum Screen
Black & white, black & 1-color, 4-color 133 line.

Desktop File Format
All of the fonts and high-resolution images must be included when the PDF file is saved. Use only Type 1 and TrueType fonts. Images must be SWOP (CMYK or Grayscale), TIFF or EPS format 300 dpi. No JPEG files. Do not nest EPS files into other EPS files. All required image trapping should be included in the files.

Layout must be right reading, portrait mode only, at 100% size, with no rotations. Please include standard trim, bleed and center marks in all separations, 1/2" outside the trim. (No marks should be included in the "live" image area.) Maximum dimensions, including all marks, color identification and agency info are:

Single page: 11" wide by 17" high
Spread page: 20 1/2" wide by 13 1 /2" high
