TV stars Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford opened their Mediterranean style San Marino, CA home for the Village by Village: A Garden Party for GAIA (the Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance) fundraising reception benefiting AIDS-related causes in Malawi. Guests like California’s first lady Maria Shriver, Patricia Heaton and Tony Shaloub kicked off the afternoon inside the couple’s living room over hors d’oeuvres and light piano music. And despite the seriousness of guests’ efforts, there was room for levity (these are comic actors, after all). “There’s a drink called the Malawi Wowwie,” joked Kaczmarek. “If you see Brad drinking one, take it away because he’ll fall asleep in the pool.” Added her husband, “Luckily, in my profession, being conscious is not a requirement.”
