Over a thousand Palm Springs locals braved a rare downpour to get into character during an open air sing-along screening of the movie musical Hairspray at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Amanda Bynes and Elijah Kelly represented the cast of the remake, while Ricki Lake was on hand to carry the torch for the original. "Even though there were so many people in the park it felt intimate, maybe because everyone was a fan," said Lake of the turnout. "They all knew the words and were really enjoying themselves."
