Hilary Swank

A rare downpour couldn't dampen the spirits of Hilary Swank at the premiere of Freedom Writers at Mann's Village in Los Angeles. The two-time Oscar winner was humble about her approach to playing real-life teacher Erin Gruwell, on whom the film is based. "It was all there, and all I had to do was say what was on the page and hopefully get out of the way of it and not mess it up," she explained. Swank was also eager to give credit to the non-actors who play her students in the film: "They were all in the moment every single day, and that’s a reminder of not only how you should be as an actor but how you should be as a person."
