“If I can muster the guts after my second glass of red wine,” said Amber Tamblyn, referring to Cate Blanchett, “I’ll tell her we were sisters in a past lifetime and she needs to acknowledge that.” Blanchett wore Giorgio Armani to receive an Icon Award, which was presented by her friend and Notes on a Scandal co-star Judi Dench. “When I saw her in Elizabeth,” said Dame Judi, “it was one of those rare moments when I forgot I was watching an actress.” Anjelica Huston, who presented a statuette to Sofia Coppola, joked, “We’ve both not yet grown into our noses.” And Gwyneth Paltrow couldn’t help but gush about Icon recipient Annette Bening, “She is so talented that it’s bananas.”
