Whitney Houston

7: CAROUSEL OF HOPE BENEFIT BALL

Whitney is back! No one caused more of a stir at the 17th Carousel of Hope Benefit Ball than the elegant, Armani-clad Miss Houston. The divorcing singer arrived with the ball’s Brass Ring Award recipient, Clive Davis; Houston received the humanitarian honor in 1992. Since its inception in 1978, the biannual ball has raised $70 million for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. This year’s event featured a concert by Usher, Babyface, Barry Manilow, Jennifer Hudson and Katherine McPhee, who sang Houston’s “I Have Nothing” with the dedication: “Whitney, you will always be my American Idol.” Other attendees included Halle Berry, Teri Hatcher, Kristin Davis, Minnie Driver, Andie McDowell, Sharon Stone, Virginia Madsen, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Jeremy Piven, Quincy Jones, Rita Wilson, Forest Whitaker, Brooke Shields, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, James Denton, Sidney Poitier, Christine Lahti and Nicky and Paris Hilton.
