"I've been inspired by everyone from Lucille ball to Brigitte Bardot," she told InStyle of her ever-changing style. Her rainbow of hair colors (platinum, mahogany, auburn), not to mention her off-duty nose ring, may be due to on-the-job training. Says Scarlett, "To me the great thing about being an actress is walking around a film set and going into a costume truck and seeing the wigs and special-effects makeup."

"I had a rich childhood," the Horse Whisperer breakout has said. "A lot of kids growing up have their creativity kind of squashed and not accepted. But I was very lucky—my parents let me do my own thing."
