Transformation

"Back then, I had no idea what I was doing," Lauren Conrad said of her days as a high school senior on MTV's Laguna Beach. "I was doing my own makeup and, obviously, my own hair." It was through trial and error (and a sharply-worded suggestion from her boss on The Hills) that she transitioned from frosted "Orange County hair" to a tastefully-arranged honey-blond mane. And, even now, although the fashion designer and bestselling author has a beloved glam squad to maintain her favorite bronzed, natural look: "I'll go on book tours and do my own hair and makeup and I don't stress about it."

The (dark-haired!) Laguna Beach High School sophomore served on the student council and played sports.
