Before there was the "Rachel," there was the "Farrah." When the Corpus Christi, Texas-born beauty hit the '70s scene as a model and Charlie's Angels star, her feathered mane inspired a million trips to the salon, not to mention her own blockbuster product line. But the actress refused to write her legacy in hairspray—over the course of her four decade career Fawcett starred on Broadway, was nominated for three Emmys (including one for a harrowing role as a domestic violence victim in Burning Bed) and became a sculptor and painter. As she said in 1977: "There's more to me than just hair and a smile."

Her understated flip and all-American good looks inspired her Corpus Christi, Texas high school classmates to vote her the class's "Beautiful Woman."
