"The dress was all muted colors so I wanted to go against that and do one strong pop of color on the lips," said the star's makeup artist Kayleen McAdams of Mandy Moore's Academy Awards look. NARS Red Square Velvet Lip Pencil created a matte tangerine version, which McAdams perfected by first lining the mouth, then dabbing extra pigment into the lips with her fingertips.
