Deschanel is known for her quirky, retro-inspired style, so her Old Hollywood updo at the 2012 Emmys was all the more fitting. "We both decided her hair should be up and off the neck," said Roszak. "We kept the hair soft, feminine, and elegant." She placed the star's clean, blown-out strands into rollers, then applied a mist of Pantene Touchable Volume Hairspray ($4; drugstore.com). After setting the style, she removed the rollers and gently backcombed a section at Deschanel's crown. Roszak swept her strands into a medium-height ponytail, then anchored the ends underneath. A final spritz of hairspray held the chignon in place.
