When Oscar award winning writer/director and Artists for Peace and Justice
founder Paul Haggis
called upon philanthropic friends like Charlize Theron
, Penelope Cruz
and Nicole Kidman
to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, they didn't disappoint. After getting informed about the crisis, the power crowd got involved, contributing a total of $4.5 million dollars to support emergency and long-term aid for those most in need. "Maria [Bello] and I just got back from Haiti," said Haggis, who arrived straight from the airport to host the fundraiser at his Santa Monica home. "As soon as the quake hit, I said 'We've got to do something.'"
