It stands for “oil delivery system”—a breakthrough in L’Oréal Professionnel’s INOA salon hair-color line (inoa-us.com for salons). Unlike water-based dyes with harsh ammonia, these oil-based ones deposit extra conditioning molecules along with color. “It actually improves hair’s quality,” says Kathleen Flynn-Hui of N.Y.C.’s Salon AKS.
