For her husband's inauguration, Obama chose a lemongrass-hued sheath dress and matching coat from Cuban-American designer Isabel Toledo, layered over a Nina Ricci mohair cardigan. “I wanted to pick a very optimistic color, that had sunshine,” Toledo told the New York Times of the Swiss wool lace ensemble. “I wanted her to feel charmed, and in that way would charm everybody.” Adding a playful touch, Obama wore a Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection brooch, Jimmy Choo pumps and J. Crew leather gloves in olive green.
