She plays a huge role in the lives of her son and eight-year-old daughter Ava, and is involved with the Children's Defense Fund to help improve other children's futures as well. "Being a mother, I feel the importance of all children," she says. "Every time I see a kid, I think. 'What are we doing in this country to help that child have the best chance?'"
