For her part, the unstoppable Sharon Stone started the fundraising early, drumming up $2 million dollars before the auction had even begun. "This year I had my 50th birthday. I didn't have a big party and I gave away half of my belongings," said the activist. "For my birthday amfAR, I decided to start a pediatric branch where we grant money for pediatric AIDS research around the world."
