AFTER The finished color gives Nelly a look that references Lopez’s look without the high-maintenance upkeep of the singer-actress’s locks, which have dense layers of varying shades of blond. Explains Hazan, “You can’t give a low-maintenance woman high-maintenance color. The color will look good only for a month before it needs to be touched up. Unless you want to be in the salon every four weeks, it’s not for you.” She promises Nelly can go three or more months before scheduling a follow-up appointment.
UPKEEP To keep color fresh between visits, Hazan suggests shampooing and conditioning with products especially designed for colored hair. She suggests Nelly use Pantene Pro-V Blonde Expressions Color Enhancing shampoo and conditioner ($6 each/13.5 oz; at drugstores). Says Hazan, “If you keep your hair in good shape, the color will last a lot longer.”
