IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY The 48th annual Grammy Awards rocked the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. on Wednesday night, bringing hundreds of artists together under one roof towellraise the roof.
THEY BELONG TOGETHER While Mariah Carey was expected to be the evening’s comeback kid, it was rock veterans U2 who stole the show, taking home five statues for album and song of the year, among others, and performing a riveting rendition of their song “Vertigo.” Other performers included Madonna with the Gorillaz, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Jay-Z with Linkin Park and McCartney, and Carey. There were surprise appearances as wellNicole Kidman got cozy in the front row with rumored boyfriend Keith Urban, who won the Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, although they were virtually ignored by the TV cameras.
