Cyndi Lauper sang her eighties hit “Time After Time” with Sarah McLachlan, and the Rolling Stones brought down the roof of L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium, where the show took place, with a satellite hookup to Salt Lake City.
CHART TOPPERS Record sales determine the nominees, but winners are selected through a survey of 20,000 listeners. So is it any wonder that when winners like Will Smith and Mariah Carey took the stage, their fans were the first ones thanked?
THE FINAL BOW After the show, young Hollywood hit the after-parties. Recently engaged couple Kimberly Stewart and Laguna Beach’s Talan Torriero showed up at the “Musicians Rock the Soul” bash at Privilege, while Paris Hilton made an appearance there and at Teen People’s shindig at Element.
