WHAT'S IN STORE? Thursday, September 29, 2005. L.A. was abuzz when Macy's in Santa Monica hosted its annual Passport auction, raising more than $1.4 million for HIV and AIDS charities and the victims of the hurricanes; Diane von Furstenberg hosted an intimate luncheon for her new Melrose Avenue boutique; and Williams-Sonoma celebrated the opening of its first Home store with a cocktail party in West Hollywood.
STAR SHOPPERS Sharon Stone hosted the auction, where Jennifer Lopez showed her fall line, and Pete Sampras took bids for his U.S. Open box and private tennis lessons. Meanwhile, Jessica Capshaw, Sarah Wynter and Lisa Rinna toasted their favorite wrap-dress designer; and Felicity Huffman, Minnie Driver and Ashley Scott mingled in the new 18,500-
square-foot W-S Home store.
SOLD While taking bids, Stone was able to raise funds to fix a wardrobe malfunction: The back of her Elsie Katz Couture dress came undone and she auctioned off the chance to button her back up for $500.
