It's Malia Obama's 18th Birthday! See Her Incredible Style Evolution

Like mother, like daughter! Malia Obama turns 18 years old today, and she has clearly inherited mom Michelle Obama's great sense of style.

The First Daughter has literally grown up before our eyes since she entered public life in 2008 when her father, Barack Obama, first ran for president, and we've been lucky enough to watch her style transform over the years from sweet to sophisticated. After graduating from Sidwell Friends School in June, she's planning to take a gap year and then attend Harvard University in fall of 2017. She's not the first in her family to study at the Boston Ivy League: That's the university where both her parents earned law degrees.

"When I first elected to this office, Malia was just 10 and Sasha was 7. And they grow up too fast," the President told Ellen DeGeneres. "Malia's more than ready to leave. But I'm not ready for her to leave," said POTUS. "She's one of my best friends. And it's going to be hard for me not to have her around all the time. But she's ready to go. You can tell. She's just a really smart, capable person and she's ready to make her own way."

The past few months have been exciting for Malia as she and sister Sasha attended their first White House State Dinner (where they met Ryan Reynolds!) and took a historic trip to Cuba with Michelle and Barack. In fact, Malia, who speaks Spanish, took on the role of interpreter for her family! She continued her global travels when she accompanied her mom and sister to Liberia, Morocco, and Spain on a trip promoting the Let Girls Learn initiative.

In honor of her big day, take a look at how the eldest Obama daughter's style has transformed below. Happy birthday, Malia!
