Julianne Hough's Changing Looks
1. 2006The Alta High senior sported the favored local look: "Utah is like the Mormon version of Jersey Shore, because everyone goes tanning, they've got the makeup and they tease their hair."
"This was the worst photo ever taken," Hough joked of her first Dancing with the Stars portrait. "This was a period of time when I kind of just let them do what they wanted to with my hair and makeup." Now the two-time champion collaborates on her performance looks with beauty guru Troy Surratt.
"I love my makeup because it's so fresh," Hough said of the look she wore to the L.A. premiere of Ocean's Thirteen. "And the ponytail is a little '60s-I've got the little bouffant going."
For the Emmy Awards, she got creative with a Campbell McAuley 'do. "He had to go and do someone else for the show, so he did my hair first and it was all down and curled and very beautiful," she said. "After he left, I put on my dress and decided that my hair would look better up, so I just pinned it up myself, and it turned out to be one of my favorite hairstyles."
Hough added her own shimmer to her Academy of Country Music Awards makeup: "This is when I started to highlight the inner corner of my eyes."
"This was kind of my rock and roll look," she said of her darkened locks for the This Is It premiere. "Something different."
For the L.A. premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, she tried a new shade of shadow: "I'd never done green and I wanted to do something cool and smoky to make my eyes really pop."
Hough went straight for the MTV Movie Awards-and added some depth to her bright blond hue: "I had just darkened my roots to make my hair look a little different."
"I had just been doing Footloose and this auburn is the color of my character's hair," she said of the retro style she wore to the American Music Awards. And, aside from her bright fuchsia lip color, "My makeup is very soft-I literally didn't even have foundation on!"
"At the Golden Globes I was wearing a Marchesa dress that had an Egyptian goddess-type look, so we did lots of golds and bronzes," she said. "I had literally gone from dark, dark brown to that color the day before, my hair was really yellow so at every interview I was like, 'I just changed my hair-it's a process, it's a process.'"
Hough wore her locks loose for the Grammy Awards.
For the Art of Elysium's Heaven Gala, Hough worked a coronet of braids.
Hairstylist Riawna Capri created a futuristic updo for the Golden Globes. After building lift at the root with a mix of UNITE EXPANDA Volume, UNITE EXPANDA Dust and some good old-fashioned backcombing, he then parted the hair along both temples, twisting each side back towards the nape in two sections. To style the center, he twisted the front three inches of hair to the left and pinned. The second section was twisted and pinned to the left. By alternating sides, Capri formed a "twisted Mohawk."
Hough jumps on the pixie bandwagon! The star pairs her new 'do with bold brows.
The star grew out her pixie into a stylish lob, styling the light blonde strands in loose beachy waves.
Hough showed off longer locks, styling the shoulder-length 'do in soft curls.
