Fun fact: Julia Michaels is responsible for some of your all-time favorite pop songs.
The 24-year-old singer has writing credits for hits like Justin Bieber’s “Sorry,” Britney Spears’s “Slumber Party,” and Selena Gomez’s “Bad Liar,” but Michaels is coming into her own. Her major debut EP Nervous System and the jam “Issues” (you know the lyrics—“I’ve got issues, and one of them is how bad I need you”) scored her two 2018 Grammy nominations, one for Best New Artist and the other for “Song of the Year.”
And though it’s her music that’s memorable, we’re also giving Michaels a shout out for her red carpet fashion. She borders the line between elegant, lady-like dresses that work for the step and repeat, and every so often she’ll surprise us with something as casual as a T-shirt and jeans. At the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, for instance, she turned to none other than Dior for a sparkly blue ombré design.
“Thank you @dior for letting me wear the most incredible, sparkly dress ever” she wrote in an Instagram post before the event.
