What do Taylor Swift, Cher, and Nina Dobrev have in common? They’re all self-proclaimed cat ladies—and proud of it. In honor of National Cat Day today, we rounded up a few of our fave celebs who are giving the idea a whole new spin, one cat selfie at a time.
1. Taylor Swift
Practically the patron saint of felines, Swift is known for sharing the quirky moods of her Scottish Folds, Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson, with her 52 million Instagram followers. And like all of the other pals in her squad, they go pretty much everywhere with the singer. Meredith (above) even made an appearance at Swift's InStyle cover shoot in 2013.
2. Lea Michele
The Scream Queens actress likes to share snaps of sweet cuddle time with her kitty, Sheila. “#ilovehersomuch,” she wrote in this snap.
3. Gigi Hadid
4. Nikki Reed
Reed, an animal lover and activist, has a special place in her heart for cats. She helped find a sanctuary for this rescue, who was diagnosed with feline leukemia virus just after having kittens.
“God only knows what I would do without this kitty,” said the singer of her pet, Mr. Peeps. “He literally owns my heart. Best thing that ever happened to me was finding him on the street."
6. Emmy Rossum
While volunteering at Best Friends Animal Society in L.A., Rossum fell for this tiny kitty named Isaac.
7. Katy Perry
Perry wasn’t always the cat lover that she is now. “For most of my life I was a kitten hater; I grew up with dogs,” she told us. “Then I rescued Kitty Purry.” Now Kitty Purry (and her castle) are a regular on the star’s Instagram.
8. Nina Dobrev
“Has your cat seen the Grand Canyon? Mine has,” joked the star while on vacation with her pet.
A few weeks ago, the music icon adopted two kittens and is calling them Nala and Zen, though their names aren't “etched in stone yet,” she said on Twitter. Her other cat, Mr. Big, is named after Chris Noth’s Sex and the City character.
