One of the biggest problems facing our country today is that there are not enough highlighters in the drugstore.  The range of products available at your local CVS, drugstore beauty is getting better and better, and I'd say that it's coming close to eliminating the need for a trip to Sephora, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I will say that you no longer need to go to Sephora to find a big range of matte lipsticks, primers, and color correctors. Everyone's favorite products have made their way to the drugstoremaking a great beauty routine more affordable and accessible, that is, with the exception of highlighters.

For a highlighting fiend like me, that's a problem. It's not that I don't love the 500 highlighters I already have, but damn, sometimes I just want more options. Everyone and their mom is doing contouring products and eyeshadow palettes, where are the products for glowing up our faces? Well, I have good news and bad news:

The good news is that everyone's favorite, affordable beauty company, Wet N' Wild just released powder highlighters that ARE INSANE...

The bad news is that they're one of the hottest items of the season and they're sold out everywhere...

Let me introduce you to the Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powders. It costs four dollars.

You read that right, four dollars.

But it's not the price tag that makes them so great, it's the formula.

These highlighters are very finely milled so they go on very smoothly, and can take you from just a bit of glow to a real ultralight beam. The pressed powder is loose enough to cooperate with any brush you dip into it, and one swipe of your finger into the pan will leave it completely saturated, *gilded*, with product. These stand up against all of our favorite powder highlighters right now, Becca, Anastasia, you name it. People have been buzzing about these for a minute, and all of the die hard beauty girls have already gotten wind of how good they are, which is why they're impossible to get your hands on. I can tell you with complete confidence that I got the last one in my entire city.

How did I get it? I'm not going to tell you. No, the company didn't hook me up with them, for once. I actually had to GO SHOPPING, like a real girl.

I will tell you that xoVain's Kara Nesvig and I were on the hunt for them this weekend, in our respective states.

They come in two shades. Crown of My Canopy (?) is the one pictured. It's the darker of the two shades, a coppery-peachy-bronzey situation.

The lighter of the two is Precious Petals, which is the one I would have preferred to get my hands on. I like my highlighters to be as light as possible, even better if they're cool-toned. Precious Petals is a creamy champagne that I am still dying to land. I like my highlighters to create a wet-look sheen, a uniform glow, instead of leaving any noticeable flecks of shimmer.

For this reason, I usually stick with cream highlighters (which does not always mean they're free of chunky glitter, but it's less common in creams than powders for obvious reasons.) The MegaGlo Highlighters are so finely milled that, while they're not completely absent of a fleck here and there, it's some of the smoothest glow you're going to get from a powder, especially at this price point. I loaded my face up with this because I wanted to see just how much it could glow me up, and I wasn't disappointed.

The hype is real. They do not disappoint.

The only downside about using the darker shade, Crown of My Canopy, is that while it builds up a killer glow, the coppery pigments build, too, which will bronze up your face in places where you might not be intending to do so. To combat this, I made sure to blend out the highlighter and then bronze up my face with my favorite powder bronzer to even everything out.

I know we're all about our Champagne Pops and our Glow Kits, which are all great! They're also all $40. I'm not kidding when I tell you that this highlighter gives those a real run for their money, at a fraction of the price.

BUT WAIT.

Everyone is talking about the MegaGlo Highlighting Powders, but no one has brought up their MegaGlo All-In-One Highlighting Sticks, $4!

Hellooooo. A highlighting stick in the drugstore? In that gorgeous champagne rose color? Come on.

These come in three colors, the one pictured above, a pink, and a coral. I grabbed Marigold Round which is basically the drugstore version of the NARS Copacabana Multiple, and what I've been begging Maybelline to so with their Face Studio Master Glaze blush sticks. In other words: right up my alley.

While all of the powder highlighters have flown off of the shelves, these haven't been quite as picked over, and you shouldn't waste the opportunity to grab one (or all three.)

The powder highlighters went so fast because of their amazing formula. The All-In-One Highlighting Sticks don't have quite the jaw-dropping usability that their powder sisters do, but the final product is worth picking them up.

The stick itself is more dense than I expected, you're not going to get a thick trail of highlight after your first pass. You can apply it by putting the tube directly to your face, or warming the product up on your fingers first and then tapping it on. I opted to do both. First, I tapped the highlight on with my index and middle fingers, and then to  build it up, I took the tube directly to my face.

Then I grabbed my Beauty Blender (which I just cleaned, applaud me) and blended out any hard lines.

If there's one thing to know about me, it's that I love a flagrant, disrespectful highlight. You give me a good cream highlighter and I know no limits. I decided to go for a full, mirror-like reflectivity, Instagram makeup artist, "that's not wearable in real life" highlight.

And then kept going.

And going.

I, for one, am obsessed. I realize that highlight is juiced, but for me, the more silvery the highlight, the better it looks layered. I don't even think it's that extreme, do you? Don't for a second think I wouldn't leave my house like this and proceed to steal your man.

In case you're curious, here's one layer of each product swatched.

The MegaGlo Highlighting Powder has more payoff right off the bat, but theAll-In-One Highlighting Stick isn't far behind.

Have you gotten your hands on the illusive MegaGlo Highlighting Powders? If you have, post a selfie in the comments and show me your gorgeous, glowing face. If you haven't and you happen to see them in the store, BUY THEM and sell them for ten times what you paid on eBay.
