Between Taylor Swift dropping the music video for "Look What You Made Me Do" and Fifth Harmony's temporary five-member performance, it's safe to say that the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards played up the drama for the sake of the audience's entertainment.
However, when it came time for Miley Cyrus to take the stage, she took a different tactic—of less is more. And this year the 24-year-old pop star did not wield a huge teddy bear or wear next to nothing. Instead, she got back to basics with her performance of "Younger Now," her latest single—and simply made us all feel good.
She wore a pink shorts-suit with an orange tie that was a little '50s, a little cowgirl, and a little Elvis Presley. Senior citizen dancers stood behind and as she belted out the song masterfully, and she later slipped on a purple A-line skirt that looked just like the one she wore in the music video for her new, groovy jam.
